The new GLE comes in a mild hybrid variant with 48-volt technology and the Integrated Starter Generator of the 2nd generation. The 6-cylinder engine with increased power (+10 kW / +14 hp) and 500 Nm of torque, the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission, and the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system take the typical Mercedes-Benz driving experience to a new level enabling it to reach an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds (previously 5.7 seconds).

Exterior highlights

A number of detailed changes to the exterior give the GLE a distinctly more modern appearance. The new front bumper provides more visual presence. The AMG Line exterior also includes the diamond grille with Mercedes-Benz pattern in chrome, the AMG front apron with chrome trim element, AMG side sill panels and wheel arch cladding in the vehicle colour, as well as the AMG rear apron with diffuser-look insert. The new GLE comes with 21-inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloy wheels paired with larger brake discs.

The so-called light flare in the headlamps is characteristic of Mercedes-Benz. With the MULTIBEAM LED, four light points complement the distinctive daytime running light signet. The designers have also revised the interior of the taillights: on the GLE, the light signet is formed by two horizontal blocks. The new GLE is available in various colour options such as obsidian black, selenite grey, high-tech silver, and now – at additional costs – in the new highlight paint MANUFAKTUR diamond white bright.

Interior highlights

New on board the GLE is the latest-generation steering wheel in nappa leather featuring capacitive sensor surfaces on the horizontal spokes. With these touch elements on the right and left, the driver can operate the driver and central displays from the steering wheel.

A special eye-catching feature in the interior is the chrome look of the centre and side air vents. Previously they were edged in black, but now the slats are galvanised in real metal, as in the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. For the interior colour, the equipment combination come in ARTICO man-made leather upholstery / MICROCUT microfibre. The Anthracite open-pore oak wood trim elements lend the interior an individual look. It blends in harmoniously while also creating exciting contrasts, thereby reinforcing and emphasising the interior design. Two USB ports delivering 100 W of power are available in the rear armrest as practical charging options.

With the second generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, the GLE is now also up to date. The vehicle interior becomes even more digital and intelligent, as both the hardware and software have made great strides: numerous vehicle and comfort functions can be controlled on the LCD screens in brilliant display views. The sizes of the driver and central displays, each measuring 12.3 inches, have been retained. The central display can be operated directly and conveniently as a touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now available wirelessly.

The new GLE is equipped with MBUX NAVIGATION PREMIUM and MBUX augmented reality for navigation allowing drivers to reach their destinations safely. In addition, Active Parking Assist and Parking Package with 360° camera makes maneuvering tight parking spaces a breeze. The Driving Assistance Package Plus is a new feature of the facelifted GLE in Malaysia and offers maximum comfort and safety on the road. This adds now state-of-the-art driving assistance and safety features to this model, e.g. Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC with Active Steering Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, or PRE-SAFE Impulse Side. The new GLE also comes now as well with Parking System Generation 5.0 – reintroducing the perpendicular parking functionality to the Active Parking Assistant.

The premium audio system Burmester® 3D surround sound system which now also features the personal sound setup as well as the Dolby Atmos immersive audio experience is present within the new GLE. 13 speakers, 13 separate amplifier channels and a system output of 590 watts are further features of the Burmester® surround sound system.
