KUALA LUMPUR. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today unveiled the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé. Mercedes-AMG is upgrading its successful GLE Coupé model making its exterior and interior sportier than ever.

The new Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé features a revised look for front apron, daytime running lights and rear lamps.

Its powerful engine ensures the familiar driving pleasure on any terrain. At the same time, the agile AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system effectively brings this power to the road thanks to specific power distribution.

The basis for the sporty driving experience in the GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé is provided by the 320 kW (435 hp) 3.0 litre inline six cylinder engine with Twin-scroll turbocharger. With the help of a software update and a larger turbocharger, the AMG development department increased the maximum torque from 520 Nm to 560 Nm. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is also more dynamic at 5.0 seconds (previously 5.3 seconds). The engine is electrified by means of an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a 48 volt electrical system. The ISG combines starter and alternator in one powerful electric motor and is installed between the engine and the transmission. Thanks to the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL, rolling movements are kept to a minimum and passengers enjoy excellent driving comfort.

Exterior

The new AMG GLE combines sportiness with a high level of everyday practicality. The exterior exudes more hallmark AMG class than ever. From the front, it can be recognised by the newly designed daytime running lights. The new AMG GLE comes equipped with Multibeam LED headlamps providing excellent levels of light and visibility. The vehicle also gets a revised front apron with expressively shaped side air intakes in jet-wing design. The radiator grille in AMG design and the AMG emblem on the bonnet, a feature used for the first time in this model range, show at first glance what power lies under the bonnet. Thanks to this powerful appearance, it moves visually closer to the eight-cylinder models. The rear features revised LED tail lamps and a two-pipe exhaust system. In addition, the AMG spoiler lip makes a strong visual statement and improves driving characteristics at high speeds.

The new 22-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels and aluminium-look, illuminated running boards with rubber studs, and panoramic sliding sunroof featured on the new AMG GLE adds to the sporty look of the exterior. With the AMG Night package, selected exterior elements are finished in high-gloss black including the front splitter as well as the trim strips in the front and rear aprons, the window surrounds and the painted exterior mirror housings. The driver and front passenger are greeted to the Ambient lighting with animated projection of the AMG logo when the doors are open.

Interior

The new AMG GLE also demonstrates its dynamic character in the interior. The first eye-catching feature when entering is the new angular air vents with chrome louvres familiar from the Mercedes-Maybach GLS. Dashboard and door beltlines in ARTICO man-made leather paired with AMG carbon-fibre trim underscore the high quality of the interior. The surfaces look particularly classy and are further enhanced by the topstitching. The new AMG GLE comes with multicontour front seats and AMG nappa leather black upholstery. The AMG Performance steering wheel in nappa leather with AMG steering wheel buttons makes it easier for drivers to keep their eyes on the road at all times.

The head-up display shows important information on the windscreen, keeping the driver's eyes attentively on the road ahead. The sound experience of the Burmester® 3D surround sound system can now be customised according to personal preferences with sound personalisation, delivering an even more pronounced surround sound. THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control supplies 4 climate zones enabling an individual feel-good climate on board. The driver and front passenger are able to set the temperature and air distribution to suit their personal needs. The temperature-controlled cup holder in the centre console cool or warm drinks for the driver and front passenger. For an added level of comfort, there are 2 USB ports in the rear providing passengers with peace of mind while on the go.

The vehicle comes with a widescreen cockpit featuring 2 fully digital colour displays, each with a diagonal 12.3-inch screen. The MBUX Interior Assistant is an innovative system which detects and interprets the driver’s and front passenger’s hand and arm movements. This means they can activate selected functions instantly. To enable drivers to find their way in complex traffic situations, MBUX Augmented Reality Navigation connects the virtual world with the real world. With safety in mind, the new AMG GLE is equipped with Driving Assistance Package Plus comprising of features such as Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, Extended automatic Re-start in traffic jams, Exit warning function, Active Steering Assist, and PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side. In addition to that, Sidebags in rear, Parking Package with 360-degree camera, and GUARD 360 ° Vehicle protection are also present.
