KUALA LUMPUR. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia proudly announces a new member in the world’s fastest family, the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE F1 Edition, a real game changer in the 55-year history of AMG.

With technology transfer from Formula 1™, it brings state-of-the-art technologies from motorsport to the road. A two-speed electric motor positioned on the rear axle supports the 2.0-litre turbo engine that is mounted longitudinally at the front. This is the most powerful production four-cylinder in the world. Power delivery and torque build-up occur very spontaneously and without delay: as in Formula 1™, the electric support of the exhaust gas turbocharger eliminates the turbo lag of the combustion engine, while at the same time the electric drive pushes powerfully from a standstill. The electric powertrain and the high-performance battery with 400 volts are AMG-exclusive, in-house developments. They underline the high-end engineering competence of the Affalterbach-based developers. Just like in Formula 1™, the battery is specifically designed for fast power output and draw with innovative direct cooling of the cells. The combined system produces 500 kW (680 hp) and 1,020 Nm of torque, achieving 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds with an electronically-governed top speed of 280 km/h.
The development of the lithium-ion energy storage system is inspired by technologies that have proven themselves in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team’s Formula 1™ hybrid racing cars. The AMG high-performance battery combines high power that can be called up frequently in succession with low weight to increase the overall performance of the vehicle. The high-performance battery in the AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE F1 Edition offers a capacity of 6.1 kWh, continuous output of 70 kW and a peak output of 150 kW for ten seconds. The low weight of only 89 kilograms allows the very high power density of 1.7 kW/kg. Charging is via the 3.7 kW on-board AC charger, at a charging station, wallbox or household socket. Designed for fast power delivery and draw, the battery emphasise Formula 1™ technology for the highest performance.
Expressive exterior design
As a launch model, the AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE is available in the exclusive Formula 1 Edition decals. This edition features unique decals in MANUFAKTUR alpine grey solid paint, showcasing a spectacular exterior design with a color gradient and a large AMG logo. Red trim lines on the sides, front and rear aprons add further colour accents. The flared wheel arches and 20-inch AMG 10-spoke light-alloy wheels design are painted in matt black with its brake callipers painted in red. AMG Aerodynamics Package proves handling characteristics at high speeds and enhances the dynamic visual impression and is further accentuated with the with front splitter with flics on the sides, side attachments for air outlets in the rear apron and aerodynamically optimised diffuser, all in high-gloss black. The AMG Night Package, is ideal for individualists who appreciate high-class design details with additional elements in dark chrome such as the AMG-specific radiator grille and model badge on boot lid and wings in black chrome. Red trim lines on the sides, front and rear aprons add further colour accents.
Stylish interior, new generation of the AMG Performance seat
The interior is characterised by the contrast of black and red. The AMG Performance seats are particularly refined with upholstery in Exclusive black Nappa leather with red decorative topstitching and embossed AMG emblems in the front head restraints. They follow the sporty look just like the seat belts in red and the exclusive AMG carbon-fibre trim elements with red pepper. The AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather / MICROCUT microfibre with red contrasting topstitching and the AMG door sill with illuminated "AMG" lettering with exchangeable cover are a perfect match. The finishing touches are the exclusive F1 Edition badge in the interior and specific F1 Edition floor mats and F1 logo.
Multimedia system
The new AMG C 63 S E PERFORMANCE F1 Edition also benefits from the latest MBUX generation with MBUX Navigation Premium, Hard-disk navigation, MBUX augmented reality for navigation and two LCD displays, a 12.3-inch LCD driver’s display and 11.9-inch LCD Central display.
High-quality graphics in the multimedia display also visualise in an AMG-specific manner with AMG TRACK PACE which transforms your vehicle into your virtual race engineer and with AMG Real Performance Sound, the sedan sounds even more sporty, and you can determine how the turbo engine sounds in the interior. The head-up display offers AMG-specific display styles such as Race and Supersport.
AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with Adaptive Damping System
The standard AMG RIDE CONTROL steel-spring suspension with Adaptive Damping System combines pronounced sporty dynamic handling with the comfort over long distances that is such a hallmark of the brand. The basis for this is provided by the front axle, with specially developed steering knuckles and suspension joints on the spring control arm, and by the rear axle, which also features elastokinematics designed for driving dynamics. Based on this, the damping at each individual wheel is continuously adjusted to the current demand, always taking into account the preselected suspension level, the driving style, and the condition of the road surface.
Eight AMG drive programs
The eight AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes "Electric", "Comfort", "Battery Hold", "Sport", "Sport+", "RACE", "Slippery" and "Individual" are precisely tailored to the new drive technology and thus offer a wide range of driving experiences - from efficient to dynamic. The driving modes adjust important parameters such as the response of the drive system and transmission, the steering characteristics, the suspension damping or the sound. The boost power of the electric motor also depends on the selected drive program. It can be selected via the display in the centre console or the AMG steering wheel buttons.

Interior
The spacious interior of the GLB combines high everyday practicality and variability with a modern high-tech ambience. It can accommodate up to 7 vehicle occupants in the compact SUV. One of the highlights of the significantly upgraded interior is the freestanding double screen. The GLB comes with 10.25-inch wide-screen displays for the respective instrument cluster and multimedia screens. With the latest generation of MBUX infotainment system, drivers can conveniently access Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly. Hard-disc navigation is available via the Mercedes me store.
The round air vents in turbine look convey sporty elegance and contrast with the straight-lined, off-road-typical interior elements in aluminium. The new multifunction sports steering wheel is upholstered in leather on the GLB 200 and Nappa leather on the GLB 250 4MATIC. For further connectivity, the GLB now has an additional USB-C port and increased USB charging power while all USB ports are illuminated.
The new GLB is equipped with comfort seats, which are upholstered in ARTICO man-made leather on the GLB 200 and ARTICO man-made leather / MICROCUT microfibre on the GLB 250 4MATIC. The GLB 200 comes with a Star-pattern trim and the GLB 250 4MATIC has a Star Pattern backlit trim which interacts with the ambient lighting. The Mercedes-Benz pattern shines in the instrument panel in the passenger’s colour of choice. The translucent, filigree-patterned surface creates a unique effect, particularly at night. The GLB also comes with Ambient lighting with 64 colours and THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control.
In terms of safety, the GLB is well equipped with Blind Spot Assist, Exit Warning Assist, Active Brake Assist, and Parking Package with reverse camera. KEYLESS-GO Comfort package, EASY-PACK tailgate, and GUARD 360° Vehicle protection are also included.
Exclusive to the GLB 250 is the 4MATIC all-wheel drive and an additional 48-volt electrical system for the belt-driven starter generator. Its briefly available additional power of 10 kW supports agile starting and is used for faster acceleration via boost. The starter-generator also increases comfort: in addition to low-vibration and low-noise engine starting, it enables coasting with the combustion engine switched off. In addition, it recuperates during braking and acceleration – and in this way supplies the 12-volt on-board network and the 48-volt battery with electrical energy.
