The 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission has nine gears which keep the engine speed as low as possible in every driving situation. The wide gear ratio range and finely graduated gears reduce the leaps in revs when changing gear. This leads to comfortable gear-changing and saves fuel. The system includes cruise control, Hill Start Assist, a kick-down switch, park pawl and measures to support safe operation.
