Each year, the brand hosts the MercedesTrophy – a premium tournament series for customers worldwide to experience the Mercedes-Benz lifestyle through their passion for golf. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today announces the return of its much-anticipated MercedesTrophy 2018 that is back for the 28th year here in Malaysia, while the tournament enters its 29th year worldwide. Over the years, more than a million customers and fans of the brand have teed off at the MercedesTrophy.

Today, the MercedesTrophy has evolved into an extremely successful tournament series for amateurs, staged over 60 countries, and we’re very proud to host it for the 28th year in Malaysia,” says Dr Claus Weidner, President & CEO, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
Every year, more than 60,000 golfers in over 60 countries; all of whom tee off in local, regional and national invitational tournaments in the hope of qualifying for the MercedesTrophy World Final held in “the birthplace of the automobile”- Stuttgart, Germany. The MercedesTrophy tournament series in Malaysia will be played in nine qualifying rounds this year. Marketing partners for MercedesTrophy include Crestlink, Taylormade, EPOS, Kinslager, The Edge Communications, The Saujana Hotel & Resort and Carlsberg.

The top three winners from each category of each qualifying round will compete in the MercedesTrophy National Final Malaysia on 8th May at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club, Selangor.
The top two winners in each handicap category for Men’s and the winner of the Women’s Category at the National Final will qualify for the MercedesTrophy Regional Final Asia, with an all-expenses paid trip to Sanctuary Cove, Australia from 5-8 August 2018. The winner of each handicap category at the Regional Final will then qualify for the World Final in Stuttgart, Germany from 2-7 October 2018. This year, representatives at the World Final will also have opportunity to meet Mercedes-Benz’s global brand ambassador, Rickie Fowler.
Rickie Fowler turned pro in 2009 after being the number one ranked amateur golfer in the world for 36 weeks. In 2010 he was named PGA Tour Rookie of the year, and in 2014 he finished all four majors in the top five. He won THE PLAYERS Championship in 2015 after a tremendous finish on the last four holes and a thrilling playoff. He became a global brand ambassador of Mercedes-Benz in 2016. He was also part of the victorious US Ryder Cup team in 2016. With an outstanding personality and success, Rickie Fowler is the perfect fit of our brand and values.
The first player to achieve a Hole-In-One on any of the two designated par-3 holes at each venue will win the all-new Mercedes-Benz E 200 Avantgarde. Other prizes include Mercedes-Benz exclusive merchandises and other novelty prizes.
Drive to the Major
‘Drive to the Major’ is the single entry point worldwide to win a spot in the ‘Monday After Event’ played directly after The Open later this year at the Carnoustie Golf Links, Scotland, on the same course as legends and golf professionals have played the day before for the prestigious Claret Jug.. Drive to the Major is implemented via the special competition - ‘Straightest Drive’/ ‘Nearest to the Line’ at the MercedesTrophy Regional Final Asia in Australia. Only Mercedes-Benz can lay claim to this exclusive opportunity, where the MercedesTrophy premium amateur series is combined with a major.
The winner will be entitled to a full-service package including accommodation at a luxury hotel, first-class Mercedes-Benz VIP shuttle service, VIP invitation-only tickets for The Open with access to the private Mercedes-Benz VIP hospitality area, an exciting supplementary programme and participation in the ‘Drive to the Major’ qualification tournament, including the chance to win a spot in the Monday After Event, played directly after The Open on Monday.
