 | In a neo-classical "Villa Salazar" in Como, built during the 18th century, a passionate team of designers at DaimlerChrysler Advanced Design Italia draws inspiration from various disciplines to shape the trends of tomorrow in car design, combining vision and design innovation with timeless elegance for the interiors of Mercedes-Benz cars. With the head office based in Sindelfingen (Stuttgart/Germany), Como is one among three global DaimlerChrysler Design Centres -- the Advanced Design Studios in California (Irvine/Los Angeles) and Japan (Yokohama/Tokyo) focus on the exterior designs. Norbert Weber, the Head of Advanced Design at Como, together with his team worked intensively with fashion guru Giorgio Armani to create the Mercedes-Benz Giorgio Armani Design Car. Mercedes-Benz and Giorgio Armani found that they shared much common ground in terms of their respective design philosophies, creating designs that are timeless classics. "We very rapidly discovered that we were speaking the same language. It was fascinating to witness how accurately Merceds-benz was able to turn my design ideas into reality," said Giorgio Armani. Norbert Weber: "Basic values such as quality, tradition and continuity are our creed. Every new Mercedes-Benz model must exude a uniquely irresistible attraction and this is a key requirement in the creation of brand loyalty among its customers." |
